At Ermitaj, we believe that the current globalized Western society is neither sustainable nor fair. That’s why we seek, experiment, and share pathways for change, with the following goals:

  • To inspire, by demonstrating alternative ways of living and doing things.
  • To spark a desire for action, enabling individuals to become positive agents of change.
  • To move toward more ecological and equitable paradigms.

Our training programs align with this mission, transforming Ermitaj into a space for information, demonstration, experimentation, exchange, and training on a variety of topics:

  • Permaculture (in its broadest sense) and its design methods (sustainable planning and landscape regeneration).
  • Homesteading: a practical approach to self-sufficiency.
  • Eco-construction and renovation (using natural and local materials).
  • Agroecology and agroforestry.
  • Valuing traditional and environmentally friendly rural practices and knowledge.
  • Low-tech solutions and renewable energy.
  • Human interactions (sociocracy, participatory governance, non-violent communication).
  • Physical and mental well-being (yoga, meditation, nature therapy).

Our courses are led by experienced trainers, primarily Romanian, who are also fluent in English, making them accessible to an international audience.

The training programs are residential and offer:

Rich encounters that encourage exchanges.

A multilingual library, constantly growing.

Delicious meals, prepared with local products and, whenever possible, from our own garden.

In line with the ethics of permaculture, we apply flexible pricing to make our training programs accessible to as many people as possible.

More Than a Training Venue

With nearly 30 training days per year, Ermitaj is also a place where you can organize your own events!
