What makes a PDC so special?

What is exactly a Permaculture Design Course?

It’s a course developed by Bill Molisson, the founder of permaculture.
It is a 72 hours course, theoretical and practical.

It’s teaching the fundamentals of permaculture design, according to a defined program.
It’s about all important aspects of life: observation and understanding of nature, food production, energy, water, housing, social link, economy, health, etc.

During the PDC, a design exercise is done by teams and presented at the end of the course.
You can have several teachers, but it must be under the coordination of a permaculture graduate, ensuring the quality of teaching and he his the one allowed to give the certificate.

This certificate is the first step through the diploma of Permaculture, and it allows you to teach yourself an official 2-days introduction to permaculture.

Another important aspect of the PDC is the creation of social bonds and a support network between former students.

Personally, when I did my PDC in 2010 with Pascal Depienne in Belgium, I met a lot of very interesting people and I got links with the permaculture network of Belgium, but also abroad !

There is no teacher in Romania yet to teach this PDC. That’s why we bring teachers from abroad. We hope that one day Romania will have its own qualified designers. We are working on it 😉

Pascal Depienne has been a permaculture designer for 20 years. In France he has a land implemented in permaculture, as well as a totally autonomous, bioclimatic & natural house. He specializes in eco-construction, garden-forests and aquatic development. He has already completed 20 designs and given more than 30 PDCs: he was the one who gave the first PDC of Romania to the Ermitaj in 2011 and 2012!
