We are pleased to announce the first course of 2024 at Ermitaj: a 2-day permaculture gardening workshop, taking place on May 11th and 12th!
Permaculture is not just about gardening, but the garden often serves as the first step for newcomers toward resilience. Bill Mollison stated that if 20% of the population were gardeners, the problems caused by industrial-scale agriculture would no longer exist.
Tudor will introduce you to a low-tech gardening method that yields abundant harvests while respecting ecological principles. You will gain practical insights into:
- Gardening with minimal fossil fuel input using appropriate hand tools, minimal or no digging, organic fertilizers, and natural pest control.
- Controlled environments such as greenhouses: seedlings, succession planting, crop rotation, green manures, biofertilizers, composting…
- Managing yields, harvesting, marketing, and pricing.
Sustainable food cultivation is becoming increasingly necessary. Tudor will help you deepen your knowledge of ecological and regenerative gardening, whether for your own food self-sufficiency or to develop a business in this field.
About Tudor Petruțiu
Tudor is a horticultural engineer and permaculture practitioner with over 12 years of experience. He has taught various courses on this topic in recent years, including at Ermitaj.
A former president of the Romanian Permaculture Association, he participated in the second PDC held by Pascal Depienne at Ermitaj Malin in 2011. Since then, he has been involved in multiple projects: community gardens in Cluj, promoting permaculture in major cities and schools, consulting for new projects, and developing an urban gardening project (CSA) in Cluj, Porodica Urbană.
After spending a year working on an ecological gardening project in Austria, Tudor returned to Romania to develop a regenerative ecological garden in Cluj Napoca: Blue Gardens, a half-hectare vegetable farm.
Optional: mini “worksite camp” – An experience of living and working in a community.
We also offer those interested the opportunity to stay a few days after the course for a mini volunteer camp to put into practice the knowledge gained and experience community life. This stay is free of charge, and meals (self-managed by the group) will be provided.
For all the details, we invite you to read the article in Romanian.
