Tree care and Forestry Training

Join us this April 2025 for an engaging and practical training on arboriculture and forestry, led by experienced professionals Adrian Florea and Bogdan Suliman. This course will equip you with essential skills and knowledge for safely working with trees, focusing on dangerous tree removal and proper pruning techniques.

Course Details

The training is split into two parts:

1) April 5th-6th (50% theory, 50% practice): This segment provides a foundational understanding of essential topics, including:

  • Tree identification and selection
  • Installation and establishment: planting, transplanting, and first care
  • Tree biology basics
  • Principles of pruning
  • Safe working practices
  • Necessary equipment and knot-tying techniques
  • Tree assessment and risk management
  • Trees and construction

2) April 7th-9th (10% theory, 90% practice): Hands-on sessions focusing on:

  • Safe and effective tree dismantling techniques, especially for trees threatening structures
  • Practical pruning skills
  • Introduction to climbing and working in trees
  • Discussion on tree veteranisation techniques

Note: This is not a chainsaw handling course. The focus is on techniques and safety in arboriculture.

About the Trainers

Adrian: A certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and a landscape architect. ISA certification is a globally recognized standard in the field of tree care, requiring rigorous knowledge and adherence to best practices in arboriculture.

Bogdan: A lead permaculture instructor at Ermitaj, with years of experience working at heights in construction and tree felling. He brings a wealth of knowledge on tree care, gardening, and much more.

Who Can Join?

This course is suitable for beginners in good health. A basic understanding of English is recommended. Translations to Romanian and French will be available.

Location and Facilities

The course takes place on-site at Ermitaj, a unique off-grid location with limited comforts. While on-site accommodation is limited, nearby lodging options are available. Lunch is included, and participants are advised to bring appropriate clothing for outdoor work.

Pricing

  • April 5th-6th (theory and practice): Starting at 470 lei (~95 euros) for the two days.
  • April 7th-9th (intensive practice): Starting at 345 lei (~70 euros) for the three days.

Important: Attendance at the theoretical part (April 5th-6th) is mandatory to participate in the practical sessions (April 7th-9th).
